Very basic little shop. All of the donuts we tried were very dry as if they were a few days old. Based on the reviews we were expecting some fabulous breakfast treats but we were very disappointed especially after the drive to get there and the high price we paid.

Great old school relic hanging on while surrounded by dunkin donuts. Made fresh daily with great coffee great prices a drive through and the feel that only a privately owned independent business can provide!

So we have a great local donut shop in our city but we were in St Pete for a couple of nights and drove by this place. Decided to stop by on our way out of town at midday on a Saturday. Tasty! I prefer yeasted donuts while my wife likes cake so we each bought two. The cake ones were better at this place than the raised. I like that it's a local place and it was very clean and the employee was friendly. For a small shop they have a pretty great variety. Come here instead of DD or KK. Your taste buds will thank you.

What a fun place for breakfast. Fray's is right across from Dunkin Donuts, but given the choice to go with a small, local place I was happy to try out Fray's. They had croissant breakfast sandwiches which were nice. Even more intriguing was the "baked donut" breakfast sandwich. It was essentially doughnut dough that was baked and unglazed, like a really tasty English muffin used to make breakfast sandwiches. It was really delicious and had a great texture. The basic glazed doughnuts were light and soft, very nice texture again, not overly heavy or doughy. The coffee was great, the staff was fast to assist, and I loved the atmosphere. The sign out front boasts "the worlds best coffee", and it was pretty darn good. There is even a drive thru. If you're in the neighborhood be sure to stop in for breakfast.

Not a bad place! Classic varieties and friendly service. The raspberry filled with vanilla icing was divine:)

RIP building formerly known as Donut Connection - But I've always been a Fray's gal. FEAST YOUR EYES One of the entrances is blocked with a "use other door" sign--but if that door started working again the first thing you'd see would be dozens of pretty young donuts--each dolled up differently-- crooning from the racks. Do not resist. THE CRUST AKA OUTSIDE Like its sister stores, don't judge the flavors from the crust... a book by its appearance... eh--a donut shop by its external looks. The building itself looks a bit worn out and its location is not in the posh-posh area of the 'Burg... but definitely take this chance. I also have mild "GRRR"-syndrome in businesses that use photos of their products that look like stock photos. Come on Fray's--you can do better! (Plus when was "gourmet" spelled "gormet?"--see menu) After a few visits this place has never been as busy as the one on 16th St N (Same owners) but since local donut stores are rare in these parts I'm sure they'll do just fine. I want to review higher but so far this place needs slightly more work to get to the status of other Frays. INDULGANCE IS YUMMY Any donut is fine- I've stuck with a good ol' Apple Fritter or a Maple Donut. The varieties here don't delve into the wild and crazy- just tried-and-true old goodies. Light and fluffy sugar goodness with a not-too-gooey frosting. Even their Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on an Onion Bagel (only a few varieties) had a homemade taste. But the Green Tea Frappe had this slight chemical syrup taste to it. The drinks are just so so.

Perhaps the perfect donut is the simplest. These donuts are light, delicious, and reasonably priced. Their cake donut had a nice vanilla taste. The apple-filled donut had a surprising but not unwelcome maple glaze hidden under the cinnamon sugar. In this day of overloaded, cloyingly sweet donuts, it's wonderful to find a place like Fray's that understands that donut is, at its core, a breakfast food to enjoy with a cup of coffee to start your day. This is the donut I could stop for every morning.

I am so happy Fray's took over the old Doughnut Connection. The place looks so much nicer and safer to eat at. The salted vanilla cream on the headlight doughnut was heavenly. Staff was super friendly. Still had plenty of late morning selections. Best doughnut shop around.

The doughnuts here are really quite good - you can actually eat a couple and not feel completely disgusting afterward. They taste fresh and delicious, with just the right amount of sugary decadence; the shop is very clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I typically snarf down a double chocolate cake doughnut (tasty!), which is just the perfect amount of chocolate and cakiness - terribly bad for me, I know, but I just can't help it. Unfortunately, they are really close to where I live, so I will probably be 500 pounds in six months. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm! Much better than Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts.

Visited here twice while staying in the Days Inn across the street. The Dunkin Donuts next door was horrible. Stick with Frays. Sweet little local place with friendly service and much better donuts and breakfast.
